Glory be to the other,
and to the proud,
and to the wholly spirited.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
unfurled without end.
Amen.
With all the focus on armies these days, from the war-crime-ready “warrior ethos” to hand-picked soldiers as political rally props, let’s remember the fighters who have moved us forward as a human race. The ones whose victories will really matter in the long run.
They’ve done it without iron domes or bunker buster bombs, guns or drones, masks or riot gear. Like David of old, they may have thrown a few stone-walls. Mostly, though, they have peaceably reminded us that we are one family in all of our glorious complexity. They’ve shown us the power of one voice. They’ve reminded us that bullets can’t penetrate inviolable will. They’ve shown us what true courage looks like. Unarmed but undaunted.
Happy final days of Pride Month to everyone who follows their path and heeds the call to love abundantly and freely. Whether you are L, G, B, T, Q, I, A, plus, or none of the above, thank you for delivering the good news that every day is Interdependence Day. Thank you for reminding us what it means to be free.
